An intriguing spiced version of the drink which sadly does not hail from a banquet hosted by Lady Churchill at the Manhattan Club, New York, 1874. Anyway, the Manhattan is a classic in the two parts spirit to one part sweet vermouth category – see also the Martinez, Harvard and Rob Roy – and a definite ‘go to’ drink that everyone should be able to make at the drop of a hat. Try our version with a twist of cinnamon, liquorice and coconut.

  1. Stir 50ml Rittenhouse rye, 25ml Bollywood Chai infused Cocchi di Torino sweet vermouth and two dashes of Bob’s Abbotts bitters with cubed ice for 60 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a twist of orange peel and tea infuser.

Infusion: steep one tablespoon of Twinings Bollywood Chai tea per 500ml of sweet vermouth for 24 hours. Strain and rebottle.
