An intriguing spiced version of the drink which sadly does not hail from a banquet hosted by Lady Churchill at the Manhattan Club, New York, 1874. Anyway, the Manhattan is a classic in the two parts spirit to one part sweet vermouth category – see also the Martinez, Harvard and Rob Roy – and a definite ‘go to’ drink that everyone should be able to make at the drop of a hat. Try our version with a twist of cinnamon, liquorice and coconut.
- Stir 50ml Rittenhouse rye, 25ml Bollywood Chai infused Cocchi di Torino sweet vermouth and two dashes of Bob’s Abbotts bitters with cubed ice for 60 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a twist of orange peel and tea infuser.
Infusion: steep one tablespoon of Twinings Bollywood Chai tea per 500ml of sweet vermouth for 24 hours. Strain and rebottle.
